This page describes the different stages in the process of a full garden design or redesign. The other services I can provide are listed on the ‘Services’ page.
Initial consultation
I will visit and find out how you use the garden, your requirements and ideas and budget. I will then write to you confirming the brief and estimate for the cost of the work and quotation for my fees.
Site survey and analysis
If this is accepted, I will then visit to carry out a full measured survey including all existing plants, drainage, services, existing structures and soil conditions.
Concept plans, mood boards and presentation plan
I will then produce outline plans and mood boards to give you a clear idea of my proposals. These will include photographs, illustrations and hard landscaping materials to show you what the new garden will look like. I will present these to you so that we can fully talk through how the garden will look and I can take on board your comments.
Detailed layout plan and Planting plan
Once the proposals are acceptable to you , I will produce a detailed layout plan of the garden and planting plan.
The garden layout plan is a scaled, annotated drawing showing the proposed garden including all elements such as paving, paths, lawns, planting, boundaries, changes in level and key plants. This is suitable for sending to a landscape contractor to price the work and build the garden.
The planting plan is drawn to scale and shows the plant names and locations. There will also be a list of plants enabling you to purchase from nurseries or by mail order.
